Kindness connecting people! We visited the children at Orphanage # 8 and conducted a lesson in which the children were introduced to the animated heroes Interneshka and Mityaika. Interneshka told Mitusika, as well as the children and teachers, about the internet! They learned about the internet as a source of knowledge, but also about the dangers that they may run into on the internet and how to protect themselves from such dangers. The children learned how to use Wikipedia. They explored different parts of the world with a webcam and Google maps, even seeing their own orphanage, a main square in the city, and the area around the stadium of Kharkov’s soccer team “Metalist”. Using Skype we were able to be guests of Bob Baker, a good friend of mine from the U.S. who lives on the other side of the world! Many thanks to Elena Romanova, a representative of the organization “A future and hope” for the collaboration. At the end of the event the kids received gifts – beautiful books from which the children can learn useful information about the world around them. They also received books of drawing paper, colored paper, and coloring books. Many thanks for Darina Aryamnova and Daniel Sauerbier for their kinds hears and eagerness to help the children. This lesson is proof that kindness of people's hearts and desire to help are limitless! THANK YOU ALL!
